Bush aides berate GOP members
Source: The Hill

Top Bush administration officials lashed out at a pair of House Republicans at the White House yesterday after details about a contentious meeting between President Bush and GOP legislators were leaked to the media earlier this week.

The confrontations are the latest indications of an intensifying rift between Bush and congressional Republicans.

Reps. Ray LaHood (R-Ill.) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) attracted the ire of White House officials for allegedly speaking to reporters about a Tuesday meeting between Bush and centrist Republicans on the Iraq war. Details of the contentious meeting first emerged Wednesday evening and attracted Page 1 headlines yesterday.

Sources said that Dan Meyer, Bush’s liaison to the House, confronted LaHood while White House political strategist Karl Rove rebuked Kirk. It is unclear if LaHood or Kirk were the originial sources for the stories, but LaHood was quoted in one of the articles.

Regardless, LaHood and Meyer got into a shouting match as emotions ran high and voices were raised yesterday morning in the White House while lawmakers were waiting to meet with first lady Laura Bush, according to two legislators who witnessed the exchange.

3. Ruh roh, Someone didn't play Yes-Man and got taken to the woodshed.
This administration truly makes me nauseous in their Frat Boy, with us or against us attitude.

They are DESTROYING the fabric of this nation and have done more to put distrust in our gov't than everything that's happened since Nixon.

5. I just hope their these repigs realize that these thugs are taking them down
too, already Cheney has said this:

We didn’t get elected to be popular. We didn’t get elected to worry just about the fate of the Republican Party. Our mission is to do everything we can to prevail on what is now, we believe, a global conflict, a fundamental test of the character of the American people, whether or not we’re going to be able to prevail against one of the most evil opponents we’ve ever faced. And on our watch, we’re going to do absolutely everything we can to see to it that we do succeed and that we do prevail in that conflict, and sometimes that means that we don’t do well in the polls or people want to be critical. That’s their prerogative. But we sit there every morning and read the intelligence reports in the Oval Office and we know what’s happening out there. We know how committed our adversaries are to try to get at us. And we’ve done what we thought was right for the country.

Well there you have it, they don't worry about the fate of the Republican Party.

They only worry about their PNAC wetdream to come true. We got to get these guys out. Or will we meet our fate like Germany did?

6. This is bullshit!

I have to ask how could two GOP congressmen get in to see Il Duce in the first place? Wouldn't they have to state the reason for their request to see His Royal Flatulence? And if so, are we really suppose to believe two GOPers (ones I've never heard of, quite frankly) told the White House they wanted to see Chimpie regarding their concerns about the Iraq War?

And wasn't Rove and Rice there?

This doesn't sound right to me...I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

on edit: Repug congressmen met with Bush, Rice, Rove, others and told him (basically) NO MORE BULLSHIT!

7. You're right -- it is bullshit.
The meeting was nothing but a scam.

Bush invited the "Tuesday Meeting" club of the Republicans to come over and make like they are telling him off so they could have political cover in their districts.

It was all scripted, staged and leaked on purpose. It was faked to give the republic party some cover as having some members who are "worried" about the war.

Like Kirk, none of them voted any differently. The White House and Republican "leadership" wanted to take news momentum from Democrats.

Never believe anything you see or hear from this administration and is sycophants...it is all fake. Even Ray LaHood admitted it this morning on CSPAN. The Decider called them to meet at the White House, not the other way around.

10. *sigh* Can we put impeachment back on the table yet,
or do we still have to wait for exactly 2/3 of the Senate to get ready to convict?
