Switzerland Investigating BAE Arms Deals
Source: Guardian article by AP's Balz Bruppacher

Swiss prosecutors have begun an investigation into corruption allegations surrounding arms deals by the British aerospace company BAE Systems PLC, an official said.

2. The secrecy of Swiss banks is one of the things that has helped
arms proliferation. Much of the money is funneled through there.

3. It's true that Swiss banks take customers' privacy rights

more seriously than do US banks, but that's generally because failure to report income or assets is not considered a crime in Switzerland. However, "since 1998 it has been a criminal offense for a Swiss banker not to properly document the source of wealth and the "end beneficiaries" behind a bank account. The laws are far tougher than anything on the books in the U.S."
