SHANNON: US Vice President Dick Cheney said on Monday that embattled World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz, who faces demands to step down over nepotism allegations, should keep his job.

Asked during an interview in Jordan whether Wolfowitz should remain, Cheney told Fox News television: "I do".

"I think Paul is one of the most faithful public servants I've ever known -- I've worked with him a lot over the years -- I think he's a very good president of the World Bank and I hope he will be able to continue," said Cheney, who was wrapping up a week-long visit to the Middle East.

What incredibly interesting times we are living in. One of the most enjoyable things for me has been watching Cheney go from "World Heavyweight Bad Ass" to "Clown". He's going to continue hanging on to Wolfowitz, even though everyone else knows the dude's finished.

Good, it's about time.

Now as far as Wolfowitz, I have a hunch that he's coming apart, mentally. I've seen some recent photos, and you can tell there's something wrong there. I think the stress is going to push him over the edge, if it hasn't already.

My feeling is that Wolfie might just bring down the world bank down and nothing would be better for the people in the countries they are pillaging and looting.
