Wolfowitz mistakes "not a firing offense": W.House
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House acknowledged on Tuesday that World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz erred in the handling of a pay raise and promotion for his companion but said that was not cause for him to be removed from his job.

We've made clear that we support Paul Wolfowitz. Furthermore, he has said -- and we agree -- that certainly a lot of mistakes were made in the personnel process. But it's not a firing offense," White House spokesman Tony Snow told reporters.

get you in trouble quicker than anything, as many a whistle blower or former attorney can attest to.

3. This Whitehouse has rarely ever seen anything severe enough to be a firing offense
with the exception of Gen. Shinseki saying several hundred thousand troops would be needed in Iraq. That was a firing offense.

Only loyalty matters in the Bush cabal, just like the mafia.

Edited on Tue May-15-07 10:42 AM by NYCALIZ
Basically they conspired to steal in excess of $100,000.
You can be fired for stealing office supplies.
You sure as hell can be fired for stealing GREEN

If you work for a bank its called fiduciary responsibility.

12. The defensive passive: "a lot of mistakes were made"
When the mistakes are no longer deniable, put the whole mess into the anonymous passive, and make it look as if it's a fault of some process, not a bloke trying to get his girlfriend a cushy high-paying job with no real work.

21. Here's some information on the 'unqualified slut':
as people think of her.

http://www.dawn.com/2007/05/11/int18.htm

http://dawn.com/2007/05/12/int17.htm

And here are some quotes from an equally 'unqualified slut':

“She’s a very competent person and knows the region well,” says former Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who became acquainted with Riza as a board member of the Foundation for the Future, established two years ago to fund pro-democracy efforts.

“Her work on behalf of the Foundation for the Future has been excellent,” adds O'Connor, who specifically mentions Riza’s work on pro-democracy projects in Morocco and Lebanon. “Her knowledge of Arabic has been extremely helpful. She’s an impressive woman.”

And, in another quote: “She gets it – how the barriers to women’s full participation impede a country’s development.”

So obviously she's unqualified. She supports women's rights.

Wolfowitz recused himself, only to be told that he wasn't allowed to and he should make sure she gets a promotion and raise when he gets her a gig elsewhere; in so doing, a reasonable board would say they've assumed responsibility for most of what goes wrong. When you have a 1000 people at the "unqualified hack's" pay grade, you have to wonder anyway.

31. i have to question the judgment of anybody who
a) does the humpty hump with wolfie

and then b) takes the sweetheart deal that she has to know as full well as wolfie did that this was against the rules. If She wanted more freaking money than what she was making there was always the private sector - wing nut welfare pays swell i'm told.

and again the rest of his appointments - Kevin Kellems (from Dick Cheney's office)Juan José Daboub (who tried to change the world banks' policy on contraception)and Robin Cleveland - none of these folks had any experience in doing anything but taking government money.

I'm quite frankly surprised they said "mistakes" , and "erred". I'm truly surprised.

Usually, they never even acknowledge the things they do.

Well, keep hanging on with your fingernails. Luve it.

17. What is a firing offense to this White House?
Edited on Tue May-15-07 11:21 AM by blackops
Failing to prevent the worst terrorist attack on the U.S.? No, for that you get promoted.

Leaking classified information about covert CIA operatives? Nope, that's O.K.

Starting a war based on false intelligence? Hunky dory. That'll get you a Medal of Freedom.

Politicizing the Justice Department? Fine, fine.

Mismanaging the Iraq War? That's alright. Until you lose an election, that is.

So, what will get you fired?

Saying the Iraq War will cost $200 billion.

Saying 500,000 troops will be needed for the Iraq War.

Can anyone come up with more?

20. For this WH, the only firing offenses are:
(1) competency; and
(2) lack of kneejerk loyalty to this WH.

Of course, 1 and 2 go hand-in-hand.

22. Bottom line: The President of the World Bank has to be a
person with impeccable ethical standards, and one that consistently displays sound judgment and good character.

Wolfowitz has already clearly demonstrated that he is not fit for the position.

25. I don't understand why the press doesn't keep hammering home these two points:
1] Wolfie's gal-pal was given a job working with darth cheney's daughter disbursing $50M to whitewash America's image in the Mideast.

2] Wolfie's lil' snugglemuffins was given a raise SO LARGE that she was making FAR more than her boss, Condie Rice.

from a hole in the ground.

Actually, I think they know a LOT about holes in the ground. They're certainly Responsible for enough of them, here and abroad. x(

I might be wrong, but aside from the US Attorneys we've all been talking about, has this White House fired anyone? Anyone?

29. Is the World Bank under US jurisdiction?
I don't think so!!!!

Even if it was, businesses can hire and fire at will unless it is against federal law. They can fire someone just because they have a personal conflict. They could fire someone if they used a wallet instead of a money clip for their paper currency. Or if they have anything smaller than 100's.
