Halliburton Chief Moving to Dubai
Source: AP

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) -- Halliburton Chairman and Chief Executive Dave Lesar said Wednesday he'll leave for his new home and office in Dubai at week's end as the oilfield services conglomerate begins splitting its corporate headquarters between the United States and the United Arab Emirates.Halliburton announced the decision to create a second corporate office in March, saying it will place the company closer to important oil and gas markets.

Lesar, speaking at Halliburton's annual stockholder meeting in this Houston suburb, reiterated the company will gain no special tax or legal advantages from the move.

"Halliburton has been and will continue to be a U.S. company and therefore a U.S. taxpayer," Lesar said. "I personally will remain a U.S. citizen and a U.S. taxpayer."

19. my first thought as well...these guys have systematically stolen the loot..
at the expense of about a half million iraqis, and thousands upon thousands of American families experiencing the hell of this war....

an international group of wounded and dead vital young men and women..

and you know cheney is in it up to his shiny bald head..disgusting...its time to get our money back...its on its way to dubai and paraguay..impeachment is too good for these guys...jail time..orange jump suits..and a demand for the looted dough, much of it legitimately garnered by vp sanctioned(no link..just know it) no bid contracts..every time he leaves his undisclosed location, there is dirty greedy power grabbing criminal work being done...this latet news (ha) just pisses me off...

12. Not in our lifetimes...that's when.
You know what I find even MORE outrageous.
I'll put money down right now that the average
US citizen has forgotten all about the Dubai deal to
control ports in duh'muikkka.
They never connect the dots.
Never.
Which is precisely how we got where we are today.
Fact is, most duh'murikkkans couldn't find Dubai, Iraq OR Kansas on a map.
BUT they CAN tell you who the latest American Idol contestant is.

13. Dubai, the next playground for the super wealthy
I just read an article in my local paper that stated there are 45 five star hotels under construction in Dubai right now. Dubai is spending a ton of money on tourism promotion.

35. Cheney is saber rattling against Iran because Iran CAN reach out and touch Dubai
The neocon's tirade of "Terra, Terrs, Terra" has nothing to do with protecting America (it dose have a lot to do with controlling Americans). The need to control militant groups in Iraq, Iran and Syria is because those groups have the capability to carry their fights to Dubai. America's natural defense of oceanic separation still works against large scale assault. The man-made tax and prosecution haven of Dubai does not enjoy the geographic separation. Chenney wants his escape plan to be to a peaceful Middle East - ironic that his dumbass policies, like all neocon wet-dreams, are self defeating. The sad part is the amount of destruction that occurs when they try to make over the world with force.

33. There's only one reason why this is happening.
Agreements and Treaties. No extradition or mutual legal assistance treaties (MLAT) exist between the United States and the UAE, although the two countries are exploring whether to negotiate an MLAT. The UAE is party to the 1988 UN Drug Convention, the 1961 UN Single Convention as amended by the 1972 Protocol, and the 1988 UN Convention on Psychotropic Substances. The UAE has signed, but has not yet ratified, the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.
