Candidate Richardson making the rounds in Iowa

COUNCIL BLUFFS - New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson admits he's an underdog in the quest for the Democratic presidential nomination, but he believes Iowa caucus-goers will give him a chance.

Richardson, 59, is stumping in Council Bluffs today and plans to attend a gathering of the Nebraska Young Democrats this evening in Omaha.

In the single digits in recent Iowa polls, the former energy secretary under President Clinton plans to build his support in Iowa on a one-on-one basis.

Toward that end, he met this morning for breakfast at a Sapp Bros. truck stop in Council Bluffs with about 20 potential caucus-goers. The group peppered him with questions about illegal immigration and the Iraq war.

1. Richardson's plan for Iraq is WAY better than anyone else's.
And the Sierra Club has endorsed his Energy Plan.

He is Proactive; that means he is less in bondage to "the Powers that Be".

4. He'd be a great President!
His experience in many areas, especially foreign policy, is a huge plus. People should study what he stands for with an open mind. His experience as a Governor makes him the superior candidate, even over Senators Clinton and Obama.
