Soldier dies in Afghan accident

A British soldier has died after "a tragic accident" in Afghanistan,
the Ministry of Defence has announced.

An investigation has been launched after the soldier, from the 1st
Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment, died at the British base in Sangin.

The MoD said no further details would be released until the Royal
Military Police investigation was complete.

A spokesman added that the death was not the result of enemy
action. The soldier's family has been informed.
