Officials Describe Interference by Former Gonzales Aide
Source: Washington Post

When Jeffrey A. Taylor, interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, wanted to hire a new career prosecutor last fall, he had to run the idea past Monica M. Goodling, then a 33-year-old aide to Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales.

The candidate was Seth Adam Meinero, a Howard University law school graduate who had worked on civil rights cases at the Environmental Protection Agency and had served as a special assistant prosecutor in Taylor's office.

Goodling stalled the hiring, saying that Meinero was too "liberal" for the nonpolitical position, said according to two sources familiar with the dispute.

The tussle over Meinero, who was eventually hired at Taylor's insistence, led to a Justice Department investigation of whether Goodling improperly weighed political affiliation when reviewing applicants for rank-and-file prosecutor jobs, the sources said.

1. This ignorant little witch never ever had any desire to do what is right
or fulfill the duties of her position honestly and with integrity. The proof?

<snip>
"All I ever wanted to do was serve this president, this administration, this department," Goodling tearfully told a senior Justice official shortly before she quit, according to a transcript of his interview released by the House committee last night.

<snip>

There are some people that one really hopes and prays gets their just deserts in the end. This arrogant, ignorant little heifer fits the bill. She was in a position of responsibility and she owed it to the country to act in a manner that was fair and just. Instead she chose to be a scheming, manipulative little thugette.

4. I Wonder....
just how many other "Goodlings" there are throughout our country - installed in powerful government positions. They have had over six years to plug their brainwashed loyal bushies into thousands of positions; positions that call the shots, that determine who gets what and when. This worries me, especially when it comes time to change back to dems.... Will the bushies go, or will they fight to stay in charge? Hell, will bushie himself, the Big Dick, and the mobster rove go when they are voted out by the unwashed masses?

2. I can't wait for the hearing tomorrow!
I can't even blame Goodling for all of this. She's fairly young and inexperienced. I suspect she was just following directions and trying to please her boss...whoever that was (Gonzo or Shrub).

I hope she relies on her conscience tomorrow and tells the WHOLE TRUTH!

3. Goodling needs a better understanding of "morality" than what Regent or her upbringing provided

6. can't plead the fifth if she's got immunity. the fifth protects you from self-incrimination,
and she can't harm herself via her testimony if she has immunity. she's totally screwn.
