Body in U.S. uniform identified, family says
Source: MSNBC

"TORRANCE, Calif. - The body of a U.S. soldier found in the Euphrates River in Iraq was identified Wednesday as a Torrance man who was abducted with two comrades a week and a half ago, according to a family member.

Military officials told Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr.'s family that a commanding officer identified the body, but DNA tests were still pending.

They told us we're sorry to inform you the body we found has been identified as Joe," said his aunt, Debbie Anzack. "I'm in disbelief."

Anzack, 20, was one of three soldiers who vanished after their combat team was ambushed May 12 about 20 miles outside of Baghdad. Five others, including an Iraqi, were killed in the ambush, subsequently claimed by al-Qaida..."

5. Oh please. They'd talk about what an honor and privilege it was
and how much of a hero the soldier was for dying for the security of his country and how heartbroken they are over his death.

Maybe I'm just a cynic.

8. That is true, I'm afraid, even if the families were shooting
flaming anger from their eyes at them.

Body found in Iraq is Calif. soldier By JEREMIAH MARQUEZ, Associated Press Writer

TORRANCE, Calif. - The body of a U.S. soldier found in the Euphrates River in Iraq was identified Wednesday as a California man who was abducted with two comrades a week and a half ago, a relative said.

Military officials told the family of Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr. of Torrance that a commanding officer identified the body, but that DNA tests were still pending.

"They told us, 'We're sorry to inform you the body we found has been identified as Joe,'" said the soldier's aunt, Debbie Anzack. "I'm in disbelief."

Anzack, 20, was one of three soldiers who vanished after their combat team was ambushed May 12 about 20 miles outside of Baghdad. Five others, including an Iraqi, were killed in the ambush, subsequently claimed by al-Qaida.

6. truly sad state of affairs. I was flying this weekend and there
were hundreds of soldiers in the international terminal in atlanta. And what truly gets you is seeing how incredibly young they are. I wish that the senate would overturn the Pentagon's ban of showing body bags and funerals (we can do it now with a simple majority - oh ya Lieberman, shit).

I think we have really got to get the masses riled up...

11. Two important quotes from the story...
"It just angers me that it's just another friend I've got to lose and deal with, because I've already lost 13 friends since I've been here and I don't know if I can take anymore of this," said Spc. Daniel Seitz, 22, from Pensacola, Florida.

The military has warned that U.S. casualties were likely to increase as troops made more frequent patrols during the U.S.-led security crackdown in Baghdad, now in its fourth month.

The other missing soldiers are Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, and Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19.

At Jimenez's father's home in Massachusetts, a yellow ribbon also was tied on the front door. Ramon Jimenez, who speaks Spanish, said through a translator in a cell phone conversation that he has been helped by the support of friends and family.

"The hope is very high that God is going to give Alex back to him," said Wendy Luzon, a family friend who translated the conversation and has been serving as a spokeswoman.

What's this kind of loss (13 friends) going to do to a man? Where is the hope for all the other families? If (the Universe forfend) Alex R. Jimenez doesn't come home, who will his father blame?

13. RIP Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr
My deepest sympathy to his family and those who know and love him.

So many lives taken, ruined, affected because of lies.
