Pearce calls for McCain to resign

advertisementPHOENIX — A Phoenix-area Republican legislator called on Sen. John McCain to resign from his seat Tuesday if he continues to miss votes while campaigning for president.

State Rep. Russell Pearce of Mesa also said he regrets supporting Sen. Jon Kyl during last year's election because the senator now supports a comprehensive immigration bill — though he stopped short of calling for Kyl's resignation.

"It's about time we start cleaning house if that's what it takes," said Pearce, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

According to the Washington Post, McCain has missed 43 votes, nearly 50 percent of the current Congress' votes. In comparison, Hillary Clinton has missed less than 2 percent of votes and Barack Obama has missed 6.4 percent, according to the Post.

1. Ok, but in fairness, McCain has trouble remembering where he is.
Think how hard is it for him to get to Washington from wherever he is campaigning when he can't remember where he is at any given moment...

4. I agree wholeheartedly!
Another seat the Democrats could win. Perhaps Napolitano?

5. Never mind Napolitano running
Let's get McCain out, Napolitano appoints a Democratic to fill the term, and we can tell Joe Lieberman to shove it!

7. Go look at the Freepers
they've been dissing McCain for a long time now. Even back in 2000, when he beat Shrub in NH, the far right wing was anti-McCain.

Which puzzles me, he's the only Repug candidate who is solidly for the war.
