Democrat Marine calls for Iraq withdrawal

Democrats recruited a Marine from Nevada to deliver the message that the best way to honor the U.S. troops is to end "our involvement in Iraq's civil war."

Elliott Anderson began the Democrats' Saturday address by saying he served seven months in Afghanistan and was now a member of the individual Ready Reserve in Las Vegas before clearly stating why he was chosen for the Memorial Day weekend address.

"I strongly oppose our involvement in Iraq's civil war but I am still proud of my service to my country," Anderson said.

He pointed out Democratic Party initiatives such as additional funding for veterans' healthcare and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles. The real message, however, was to end the U.S. military presence in Iraq.
