Leechburg(PA) Unveils First Iraq War Memorial (In Country)

The community of Leechburg, Armstrong County Saturday took time to remember local soldiers who died in Iraq.

The community dedicated the first Iraq Memorial in the country, and people in the Kiski Valley said they knew they had to do something to honor their local servicemen killed in Iraq. Their hard work paid off, as the first Iraq War Memorial was officially dedicated on Saturday.

"We have four young men who have given their lives to protect our freedoms and Memorial Day. That's what this day is all about, this weekend is all about, but we have to make sure we don't forget about the sacrifices they made," said Rep. Jason Altmire of Bradford Woods.

The dedication brought the community together to remember and reflect.

I was disappointed they put on the monument "Freedom isn't Free". Thanks to the Bush Admin and the wingnuts IMHO this has become a cliche.

2. How do we honor these men and women without
paying tribute to the asshole that sent them to Iraq on false pretenses?

We should be ashamed of what our country is doing; yet how can we fault those who are simply good soldiers?

It's maddening...
