Send Wolfowitz to Iraq, Says GOP Lawmaker (Rep. Walter Jones)
Source: ABC News Blotter

Paul Wolfowitz may have been ousted from his post at the World Bank, but a free-speaking GOP lawmaker has an idea to keep the so-called "architect" of the Iraq War from standing in the unemployment line.

"I would like to suggest...that maybe we give Paul Wolfowitz a new job and send him over as mayor," said Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., "since the neocons got us in over there."

As deputy secretary of defense from 2000 to 2005, Wolfowitz helped develop the strategy and public rationale for the invasion and occupation of Iraq. He publicly stated that coalition troops would be greeted as liberators, and the nation of Iraq would be largely capable of financing its own rebuilding through oil revenues.

...

Jones, a one-time Democrat who switched his party affiliation for the Republicans' 1994 takeover of Congress, is best known as the one-time staunch Iraq war supporter who called for the House of Representatives' cafeteria to rename its French fries "freedom fries" to protest France's unwillingness to join the operation.

The cafeteria assented, going so far as to rename their French toast "freedom toast."

3. I think he should be required to tour Iraq in an unarmored Humvee
Only him in the vehicle, of course. No Escort. Let him get a good, close look at the situation he helped create. If he makes it from Basra to Turkey (Via Baghdad, Mosul, Karbala and other "scenic" venues) he gets to return to the US......

4. Works for me
Better yet send him over and put him in charge of Al Qaeda.

That was a suggestion given by Andy Borowitz in his column "Bush Names Wolfowitz President of Al-Qaeda.

Bush Names Wolfowitz President of al-Qaeda
Hopes to Undermine Terror Network

In a bold move to undermine the international terror network, President George W. Bush today named former deputy defense secretary and World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz to be the new president of al-Qaeda.

Mr. Wolfowitz, who has no experience running an international terror organization, struck many Washington insiders as an unlikely choice for the al-Qaeda job.

But in a White House ceremony introducing his nominee for the top terror post, President Bush indicated that Mr. Wolfowitz’s role in planning the war in Iraq and bringing scandal to the World Bank showed that he was “just the man” to bring chaos and disorder to al-Qaeda.

“I’ve seen Paul Wolfowitz in action,” said Mr. Bush, a beaming Mr. Wolfowitz at his side. “If anyone can mess up al-Qaeda, it’s this guy.”

7. Let's not stop with Mr. Wolfowitz
I'm sure there will be plenty of room in the Humvee for Douglas Feith, Dick Cheney, and about 10 media cheerleaders and their pom-poms in that unarmored Humvee.

8. Failure Fries, Jones, and you're complicit.
How handy it is to blame the neocons, when you phucking voted for the war. I sat in a cube babysitting a computer all day and knew it was wrong. "If I had known then what I know today, I wouldn't have voted for that resolution" doesn't cut it.

Also, I think it should be clear that no congressman is really responsible for the Iraq War: Bush was going to authorize an invasion even if every Republican in the House and Senate was opposed.

28. in that case,
they should have sent the clear message that they knew it was wrong. rubberstamping a war that should not happen just because it is going to happen does not speak well for those congressman who stood up and did their share of shit flinging to persuade the people to believe the lies.

9. Sure, and while we're at it, send Rep. Jones over as Wolfowitz's fry cook
New Iraq is a land of many opportunities for those with vision and fortitude. I'm sure Rep. Jones wouldn't have any problem fitting in with the other neo-cons from whom he's so artificially attempting to distance himself.

I suggest you go ahead and move to Iraq. Please stay at the new American Embassy, which should be finished any day now. It's a small city, absolutely beautiful. It only cost around $500 million a bargain these days.

You don't even have to leave to go get a Starbucks coffee. There is one right inside the Compound. Latté for you.

(blows a kiss) Darling you'll love it.

Just don't forget to wear a Flak Jacket & a helmet.

of their country with their oil revenues after we bombed it to hell and back. We owe them, not the other way around.

And here we thought they had a Democratically elected government with their very own constitution but apparently Bush* can appoint anyone he chooses to be Mayor or Governor as it was done during colonial rule..

20. Walter Jones has been opposed to the Iraq War for some time now
He was originally for the war, but later realized what a horrible mistake it was, and started to speak out against the war even before many Democrats did.

24. An Excellent Start, Rep. Jones
Send in the neocons...

the Bush cabinet...

every single GOP and Democrat rep and senator who voted for the war in 2002...

every single GOP and Democrat rep and senator who voted to continue the war last week...

every single war-whoring journalist and blowhard pundit...

every last chickenhawk fatass pro-war blogger...

and maybe a random draft of everyone who posts on Free Republic and LGF...

leave them to finish their beloved mission of freeing Iraq or making it safe for Big Oil or Israel or just plain killing lots of Arabs whatever was in their tiny excuses for minds at the time...

and get our troops the hell out of there ! :-)
