Albania finds small, crude bombs before Bush visit

Albanian police found two small home-made bombs in the centre of the capital Tirana during a security sweep ahead of the June 10 visit of U.S. President George W. Bush, police said on Thursday.

A statement said police found a small, crude bomb in a garbage bin in the yard of the Tirana University Economic Faculty. It was inside a wrapper bag of "mini 7 Days croissants", a popular brand of bite-sized pastries.

"For security reasons, it was destroyed on the spot," police said.

A plastic bag containing 30 grams (an ounce) of potentially explosive material was found in another university building some 3 km (two miles) away.

3. What's Really Scary Is Bush Going to Albania
I suspect it's because nobody else wants him in their country. Wonder how many foreign countries are sitting on secret indictments to arrest the Dim Son?

9. That was my reaction.
Why the heck is Bush going to Albania? Maybe he's dedicating a secret prison.

2. If he forced an invasion of Iraq based on his grudge over an "attack" on his father,
among other bogus charges, he would likely feel bound to send some U.S. punishment to Albania, as well, courtesy of the American taxpayers.

Will he include white phosphorus to give this murderous attack that special signature, as well?

5. If it had worked, would we have had to invade Albania?
Because I wouldn't be in the mood.

10. Some Albanians insulted by Bush security measures
TIRANA, May 31 (Reuters) - An Albanian government decree allowing U.S. Marines to be the only armed corps guarding President George W. Bush on a visit next week has been seen by some in Albania as an insult to their security forces.

Albania has been looking forward to Bush's visit on June 10, the first by a U.S. president. He will be staying for seven hours as part of a regional tour.

As part of preparations, parliament on Thursday approved an act that allows more than 500 combat-ready U.S. troops entry into the country, and sanctions their use of "force proportionate to any possible threat".

Albania's formal elite escort for visiting dignitaries, the Republican Guard, will not be allowed to carry guns on the day.

"I abstain from voting because it is discriminatory for the Defence Ministry and the people," said Bashkim Fino, a former prime minister and opposition MP. "I see no reason for American forces to come and guarantee security."
