Iran president sees "countdown" to Israel's end

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's president said on Sunday the Lebanese and the Palestinians had pressed a "countdown button" to bring an end to Israel.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who triggered outrage in the West two years ago when he said Israel should be "wiped off the map", has often referred to the destruction of the Jewish state but says Iran is not a threat.

"With God's help, the countdown button for the destruction of the Zionist regime has been pushed by the hands of the children of Lebanon and Palestine," Ahmadinejad said in a speech.

"By God's will, we will witness the destruction of this regime in the near future," he said. He did not elaborate.

3. The same dialog as Pat Robertson used with his viewers
....last January. These are self-fulfilling predictions rather than prophecies IMHO. These things will happen because they will be allowed to happen or made to happen.

January 3, 2007

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. --In what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in "mass killing" late in 2007.

"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."

Robertson said God told him during a recent prayer retreat that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September.

Robertson said God also told him that the U.S. only feigns friendship with Israel and that U.S. policies are pushing Israel toward "national suicide."

4. Russia: Bushehr nuclear fuel ready
Ready just in time to fan the flames

An expert at Russia's Novosibirsk chemical concentrates plant has said fuel for Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant is ready for shipment.

"The special atomic fuel for the Bushehr power plant was stored in containers in the presence of Iranian experts," Alexander Ustyugov said, according to IRNA.

"The fuel is being stored in transport containers and can be sent to the Bushehr NPP within three days after an order," RIA Novosti quoted the Russian expert as saying.

The fuel amount for the Bushehr plant is estimated at 90 tons and is produced by Russia's Novosibirsk chemical concentrates plant.

Russia's Atomstroyexport is building the Bushehr facility under a 1995 agreement between Tehran and Moscow.

The construction of the Bushehr plant was originally expected to be complete in 1999 but there have been numerous delays in the completion of the facility.

The plant is now scheduled to begin test runs by September, based on the latest agreement between both sides.

The cargo was discovered in one of the cars of a freight train that was derailed Friday near the town of Genc in the southeast province of Bingol.

The derailment was caused by a landmine explosion blamed on separatist Kurdish rebels who are active in the region.

The cargo was declared as construction materials, but turned out to contain US-made rocket launchers and rifles, the sources said.
