Europe, US cannot be divided: Rice
From correspondents in Panama City
June 05, 2007 05:35am
Article from: Agence France-Presse

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice overnight warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that Washington and its allies cannot be divided on their mutual defence, amid a row over a proposed US missile defence shield in eastern Europe.

"The security of the United States and the security of European allies is indivisible," Dr Rice said on the margins of the Organisation of American States gathering here. "It doesn't really help anybody to start threatening Europeans."

She noted Washington and Moscow "are cooperating in a whole range of things", including nuclear proliferation, Iran, North Korea and terrorism.

2. Yeah, but Europe wants gas
... and it can deal on its own account for oil. In Euros, not some debt-prone wanker currency.

Su fuck you, Rice.

Europe went its own way a while ago. And it ain't coming back.

New world, new rules. The US needs to hop aboard before it's left behind.

3. Oh, but they can and are and will be.
Europe is emerging as a new pole of power in the world, independent of the US and no longer a junior partner. Russia is simply warning sovereign states of Europe that there is a price to doing the bidding of the US with regard to the "shield."

4. I think they 'like' some of the "New Europe" now.
Merkel and Sarkozy are more to Bush's liking, IMO.
