Ex-mayor of Waterbury, Conn., pleads no contest to more child sex; already serving 37 years
Source: Boston Herald

WATERBURY, Conn. - The city’s former mayor, already serving a 37-year federal prison sentence for having sex with children, pleaded no contest Tuesday to state child-sex charges and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Philip Giordano entered pleas to four counts of first-degree sexual assault and four counts of conspiracy to commit sexual assault, charges based on allegations that he paid a crack-addicted prostitute to bring her 8-year-old daughter and 10-year-old niece to him for oral sex.

Giordano, wearing a wrinkled gray suit and black T-shirt, answered "nolo" - the Latin legal term for "no contest" is "nolo contendere" - to each charge at it was read by Judge Joan Alexander in Waterbury Superior Court.

The no contest pleas mean Giordano does not admit guilt, but agrees not to contest the state’s prosecution. Under the plea deal, his state prison sentence will run concurrent to his federal sentence.

1. this guy
This guy ran against Traitor Joe for the Senate in CT the year Joe also ran for veep: I held my nose and voted for Joe-the-Hoe in both races.

At least I didn't vote for the pedophile but sad to say, Joe's not a heck of lot better.

Tut-tut

Here's a link for anyone who may not remember who this clown is:

"Your conduct is the worst I have ever seen. I've seen drug dealers, murderers. What you did is indescribable,"
- U.S. District Judge alan Nevas told the former Republican mayor Giorgano.

5. The girls were ages eight and nine
Former Republican Waterbury Mayor Philip Giordano, convicted of sexually abusing two preteen girls inside City Hall and other locations, was sentenced Friday to 37 years in federal prison. Giordano was convicted in March of violating the civil rights of the two girls by forcing them to have oral sex with him in City Hall, his law office, home, and elsewhere. The girls were ages 8 and 10 at the time. He also was convicted of conspiring with a prostitute who is the mother of one girl and aunt of the other, and with using an interstate device, a cell phone, to arrange the liaisons. ``Your conduct is the worst I have ever seen. I've seen drug dealers, murderers. What you did is indescribable,'' U.S. District Judge Alan Nevas told the former Republican mayor in announcing the sentence.

9. I think the shine is wearing off
It's becoming obvious that while she's a perfectly nice lady (and she is), she's also perfectly in above her head, and not terribly interested in actually DOING anything.

The CT GOP will be interesting to watch in the next couple of years. Shays holding on last time by the hair of his chinny-chin-chin... who else is there?

10. Giordano is complete scum, who should never, ever see the
light of day again.

This goes WAY beyond the usual Waterbury corruption. This was horrifying child abuse.

the democrats in Waterbury are just as filthy as their republican counterparts, its a city of corruption, poverty, terrible education system, ect ect... the kind of place that breeds pedophiles like Giordano.

14. I must say, I agree...
My wife and I live here now (she's Waterbury born and bred). It certainly isn't the best place in the state. Most politicians, (R) or (D), are corrupt in some way. It's pretty sad, really.

13. That is horrible...
Sex with 8- and 10-year-old girls - that's so horrible. And that a mother could sell her child in that way - I realize she must have been a serious addict, but it still seems unbelievable.

I hope the children will somehow be OK.
