By Paula Reed Ward, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan will be interviewed on Thursday by investigators with the House Judiciary Committee to explore her role in the firings of eight federal prosecutors from around the country late last year.

A committee staff person this afternoon confirmed that the Department of Justice approved Ms. Buchanan's appearance before the investigators. She has retained an attorney who will accompany her to the interviews at the judiciary committee's offices.

Buchanan's meeting House Judiciary investigators postponed

The Associated Press

PITTSBURGH - U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan's meeting with House Judiciary Committee investigators looking into the Justice Department's firing of eight federal prosecutors last year has been postponed to next week, her attorney said.

Buchanan was scheduled to meet privately with committee staff on Thursday, but will now meet with them on June 15, her attorney Roscoe C. Howard Jr. told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The postponement likely was due to a scheduling conflict, he said. It was not initiated by Buchanan, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
