US rejects German G8 climate goal
Source: BBC

Washington says it will not agree to a deal on slashing greenhouse gas emissions at the G8 summit in Germany.
A top US climate official said the G8 should not dictate members' policies, but President Bush said he still had a "strong desire" for a post-Kyoto plan.

Washington's row with Moscow over US plans for a shield in two former Soviet satellites also looms over the summit.

And tensions are also mounting outside the summit area, where police are using water cannon to disperse protesters.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, hosting the summit, has set what is seen as an ambitious personal goal of persuading the leading industrialised countries to commit to cutting emissions by 50% by 2050.

So, two things here:
1. Does anyone still believe Chimpy gives a toss about global warming?
2. Not Chimpy's fault but water-cannons and tear gas(!)? For mostly peaceful political protesters?

1. Texas under Bush
The most polluted state is Bush's shining example of what he can do about greenhouse gas emissions - - as Texans grieve with intense sorrow over their soring Cancer rate.

3. I think it is fair to say that *ss rejects these goals - many of our
cities, states and people will do all they can to comply.

4. Obviously
I'm not disparaging some cities, states and people who are making heroic attempts to be more eco-friendly. I'm just taking potshots at Bush for his anti-enviromentalism and general hostility to teh very concept of international cooperation.

5. You can see how the governments are not going to be able to
handle Global Warming...Bush's legacy will be the Prez who destroyed nations and the Earth and every government allowed him to do it

6. Wasn't bush going to push his own climate plan at G8?
But when a plan is offered up that actually does something-although probably not near enough when you consider the next 40+ years as the time frame-a top US official says the G8 should not dictate members' policies.
