Leaders of the G8 nations have agreed to a compromise deal on tackling climate change, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said.

"We agreed... that CO2 emissions must first be stopped and then followed by substantial reductions," she said.

2. This is a "deal" for more talks somewhere down the line.

The G8 leaders agree as long as nobody brings up those troublesome
details like specific goals or actions.

The only bright spot here is that the G8 leaders resolved to work
together under a UN framework. Shrub didn't completely wreck
the conference, but he certainly did a lot of damage.

The net result is "substantial" without substance.

3. I had to read this about 8 times before it made any sense at all
and in reality, it was the pull quote in the article that 'splained it:

Global greenhouse gas emissions must stop rising, followed by substantial global emission reductions

I really get annoyed with articles that raise more questions than they answer, or toss out gibberish like this.
