Former VP Gore lobbies Douglas
Source: Rutland (VT) Herald

MONTPELIER — Former Vice President Al Gore and Gov. James Douglas each tried to marshal support for their positions on the energy bill that the governor vetoed Wednesday evening.

Gore appeared through a live video feed at Vermont Interactive Television's Montpelier studio to extol the virtues of the measure and encourage Vermont lawmakers to make it into law over Douglas' objection.

(snip)

The energy bill Douglas vetoed would increase the generation tax on Vermont Yankee's parent company Entergy Nuclear by about $25 million between now and when its current operating license expires in 2012, and use that money to fund measures to improve the efficient use of heating oil and gas in the state as a way of saving money and reducing global warming pollution. 1. K&R - One step at a time
I am glad it passed so that Douglas will have to make an ass of himself vetoing it.

2. Twenty five million..that is only 25% of ONE DAY's net profit of Exxon
Exxon makes over one hundred million dollars a day Per Day.. and this is only one quarter of that for a whole damn year...Exxon, only one damn company, makes more Net Profit in one friggin' day than 80% of all other companies make in a year...And Gas Prices keep going up

3. Six Hours of Exxon's Net Profit would cover complete costs of this.
 Trying to keep things in perspective..
