Iran: Israel, civilians in ME are targets for retaliatory attack
Source: Jerusalem Post

Iran will not only strike American bases if attacked, but also Israel and civilian targets in the Middle East such as crude oil fields and power plants, an Iranian admiral told US Defense News on Monday.

"The resistance will stun the US defense establishment, with dozens and even hundreds of missiles which will strike specific targets," said Admiral Ali Samhuni, security advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Countries that house US bases that could be potential targets include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain.

Army Radio quoted Iran's deputy interior minister in charge of security issues as saying that "all the American bases in the region are within the reach of our weapons."

"If the United States attacked Iran, US interests would be in danger everywhere in the world," added Muhammad Baqer Zolghadr, also a former deputy chief of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards.

4. Ooohh . . . civilian targets.
And they say it with such pride, their little heads swelling.

Gotta love it.

On the other hand, they know quite well how to be imperialists, bastards, and kill and torture. They have rather a long history of it, a history that also causes their little heads to be held up high. True, they've had a couple of centuries without it, since they stupidly fought a much stronger Russia, but they've been on steroids since Saddam stirred them up (although, to be sure, this was, in part, a reaction to their new divinely ordained weapons of righteousness programs).

6. So they have a crazy admiral. We have a buttload of crazy in the Pentagon, in Congress, and the
Administration. I have to say that your analysis of the Persians being swell headed after taking on Saddam is rather unique. I had thought that the concensus was that the Ten Year War was so devastating to Iran that they had adopted a Russian-Post WW II mentality re: agression and especially Arab agression.
They might be riding a bit taller in the saddle these days, as they are effectively winning the hearts and minds of the majority of the Iraqis, but they are careful to walk the razor's edge between not being too set on revanche of the Baathists and an overt cordon sanitaire, while being just bellicose enough for the TV and radio sound bites just as we have here.
We have to realize that Iran is surrounded by the US/UK and the Arab Monarchies, Iraq is under occupation, Pakistan is a semi-client state of the US, and Afghanistan and a multitude of other __stans are seen as agents of the West.
Is this any crazier than what Liebermann said about a preemptive strike on Iran this week? The Iranian press is sure to be writing "US senior legislator provokes the Great Satan to destroy the Islamic Revolution and kill your children!"

7. Why is the Admiral crazy? His country is being threatened with a nuclear attack
He's trying his best to protect his country from attack by making no secret of the consequences.

8. Just out of interest ...
... which side are you talking about?

and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say
which was which." (George Orwell - Animal Farm)

5. The words of Dr Strangelove
What good is having a doomsday machine if you don't tell anybody about it. The point being, Iran is obligated to state the risks invasion would have on the area. I would think that I would not want to be close to a port in Kuwait or Saudi. Saddam's first mistake was letting the US comfortably and leisurely deploy and train.
