Fla. Pushes To Restore Voting Rights Faster

TALLAHASSEE - More than 15,500 ex-felons have had their voting rights automatically restored in the two months since the clemency board approved rules that allow the Parole Commission to give back those rights without a hearing.

That compares to fewer than 14,000 former offenders who had their rights restored without a hearing in the 12 months before the rule changes, according to Gov. Charlie Crist's office.

The state estimates that about 515,000 people are potentially eligible for automatic restoration.

2. I don't think shrubbie anticipated this
when they replaced his loyal cronie and little brother in Florida. I know very little about Crist but this is good news for the State.

5. The cynic in me
sees this in parallel with the desire of Florida to be an early primary state. Fool me once...oops I guess I am not allowed to count.
