Source: Associated Press

(06-19) 09:05 PDT WASHINGTON (AP) --

White House budget director Rob Portman is resigning and will be replaced by former Iowa Rep. Jim Nussle, Bush administration officials said Tuesday.

Portman, who was a six-term congressman from Cincinnati, left his career on Capitol Hill to join the Bush administration two years ago as trade representative and was named budget director a little more than a year ago to replace Josh Bolten when he became White House chief of staff.

Portman said he was leaving the administration for personal reasons.

Republicans privately say that Portman leaving in the middle of budget battles on Capitol Hill will be a blow to the White House, especially since the administration previously touted Portman's close ties to congressional Republican leaders as an important asset in the final 18 months of the Bush presidency as the White House tried to pass legacy items such as immigration, energy and health-care reform. --From CNN's Ed Henry (Posted 12:11 p.m.)

13. Jim Nussle (R, IA)
"My biggest fear is going to be going to the funeral of some young Iowa man or woman who dies in this conflict and having their mother or father come up to me and ask whether or not their son or daughter died for America, or died to save Bill Clinton's presidency. I don't know what I would say to those grieving parents.

For that reason I believe the President must resign immediately."

Rep. Jim Nussle (R-IA), Congressional Record, H11963, 12-18-98.

14. Gee Mr. Nussle
Number of soldiers Bill Clinton sent into combat who didn't come home: 0.

Number of soldiers George W. Bush sent into combat who didn't come home: 3,500 and counting.

What do you say to the grieving parents of Iowa, Mr. Nussle? What do you say when they ask if their son or daughter died for America or died in service of an administration full of lies and liars? Or is it not a question that bothers you anymore after 3,500 deaths? Have you gotten used to it by now?

16. I was thinking that... what budget is he talking about?
Also Portman helped ol Smirky take Ohio in the last election....

Look what we've got for our loyality... a bad job and Ohio is going down.

I look around Ohio and there are factories empty or torn down, all gone to another country...

Governor I doubt, Strickland is just fine thank you Mr. Portman.

And you'd have to mud wrestle ol Jean for his old job back.....eeeeewwwwwwwwwww
