Baby found near where woman disappeared
Source: Yahoo

CANTON, Ohio - A newborn girl with her umbilical cord still attached was found in a basket on a doorstep 45 miles from where a pregnant woman vanished, authorities said Tuesday. A DNA sample was taken from the infant Tuesday and was given to authorities investigating the disappearance.

1. That is soo sad...
 These horrors are happening more and more, what happened to a good old fashioned adoption? There are so many children out there that need to be loved and supported.

9. Actually this wasn't an Adoption issue....the 9 month pregnant mother
dissapeared from her home earlier in the week... her 2 year old son made a statement "Mommy was rolled in the rug"! "Mommy broke the table" Furniture was broken, the house was in chaos...

No this is definitely more than a parent not wanting a child....most likely murder.

10. What I was referring to
was the possibility of someone taking the mother in order to get the baby - so far, the authorities have no reason to suspect the father.

3. Well, it sounds like a good news/bad news maybe
The fact that the baby is alive is cause for rejoicing, although it's not looking good for the rest of the family. I'm glad the baby is okay (I think it's okay, I couldn't find info about her condition).

7. More likely to disguise blood stains
Or to corrupt DNA evidence.

I have a bad feeling about this.

13. Then he/she sure made a mistake when he/she left one at home.
Her 2 year old toddler was left at home alone.

14. Or, maybe they were disappointed with the child's skin color...more likely.
Attack a white woman for her baby expecting a white child...whoops! Tragic situation.

15. The child is described as a white female.
Edited on Tue Jun-19-07 09:52 PM by lizzy
It might not even be related to the missing woman because the baby appears to be less than 24 hours old.
And if the child is her daughter, I presume that would mean she is alive or was kept alive at least until she gave birth.

17. Sadly, not necessarily.
Nowadays the sick fucks are giving homemade C-sections, killing the mothers in the process, then abducting the newborns.

It's a sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick world.

18. The woman was missing since Thursday, and the child is less
than 24 hours old.
If the child is the daughter of the missing woman, the mother would have to be alive after she went missing.
The other possibility it's just a coincidence and the child is not related to the missing woman.

19. All sorts of possibilities
If the child does turn out to be Jessie's and is described as white, maybe Cutts is not the father (as is reported) and there is actually another suspect in the mix.

I can't see how Cutts and his wife could not be anything other than prime suspects or at least "persons of interest". They have the most reason to have ill feelings toward the woman.

22. HippieKid was "white" until she was 6 months old ...
... she actually looked very Italian. Her dad, however, is 100% African American.

21. The woman who found the baby doesn't think so ...
... on CNN last night ... she said she lives on a remote, rural street some 40+ miles from where the woman disappeared, and that she was a school nurse for 18 years and suspects that whoever left the baby at her house knew her, knew she was a nurse, and that she would 'take care of' the baby.

A basket? A bottle? A can of formula? Left on the remote doorstep of a nurse's house?
She guessed it was a student/former student who had hidden a pregnancy, delivered & panicked.
She also said she has no knowledge whatsoever of the missing woman.

I'm betting that her instincts are correct and the two aren't related.

24. I'm just glad the baby's alive...
A kidnapped woman with two children is bad enough, but if that baby had been found dead it would have been at least twice as bad. (I do hope that's the baby).

25. Yes, it could be just a weird coincidence, and it's not the baby
of the missing woman, but some teenagers'.

26. i guess that depends on what your definition of "near" is
45 miles is a lot of miles away. Canton is not "near" Wooster.
