Geronimo Great-Grandson Wants Bones Back

SANTA FE, N.M. -- Legend has it that Yale University's ultrasecret Skull and Bones society swiped the remains of American Indian leader Geronimo nearly a century ago from an army outpost in Oklahoma, and now Geronimo's great-grandson wants the remains returned.

Harlyn Geronimo, of Mescalero, N.M., wants to prove the skull and bones that were purported spirited from the Indian leader's burial plot in Fort Sill, Okla., to a stone tomb that serves as the club's headquarters are in fact those of his great-grandfather.

If so, he wants to bury them near Geronimo's birthplace in southern New Mexico's Gila Wilderness.

"He died as a prisoner of war, and he is still a prisoner of war because his remains were not returned to his homeland," said Harlyn Geronimo, 59. "Presently, we are looking for a proper consecrated burial."

12. The request pleases me. But, why would they give the grand-son

the right skull? Since they are without honor, the only way it will happen is if the University does the right thing. Or is the building not on the property of Yale?. Or is S&B totally independent of Yale?

Remember - since the subject of S&B is once again up front in the news - everything that anyone says about S&B is true because it is a secret society making it impossible to know the truth. Return it if it's true. I wonder though: Are there any remains at the actual Geronimo burial plot? Were the remains swapped out with someone else's or outright taken away? Can they check? I mean, "Legend has it..." isn't exactly saying that it is so.

Anyway, part of me wouldn't be surprised if that was the case (stolen that is). On the other hand, I also wouldn't be surprised if the actual "skull and bones" in the tomb wasn't Geronimo's either. Could've been any bones (if at all, at that) where the founding member(s) claim to be Geronimo's to make it more "special" for their ceremonies and what not.

It'd be interesting to find out in any case though.
