First Student Bus Drivers in Connecticut Overwhelmingly Choose Teamsters

50 Drivers in Vernon, Connecticut Yard Join Teamsters Local 671

VERNON, Conn., June 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Drivers employed by
First Student in Vernon, Connecticut, secured a strong partner in their
fight for respect in the workplace, voting for Teamsters Local 671 in
Bloomfield, Connecticut, as their bargaining representative.

The 50 drivers, who have been working with Local 671 since March, are
in a fight to gain competitive wages and benefits, establish a seniority
system and, most importantly, respect in the workplace.

"I'm really happy," said Ernie Everett, a seven-year school bus driver.
"I've seen the level of respect go downhill over the years here."

The Vernon yard is the second First Student location to join Local 671
within the last year. The 67 drivers at the Manchester, Connecticut, yard
voted for Teamster representation in November 2006.
