APLITTLE ROCK - U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor said Wednesday that a request for the Justice Department to investigate alleged voter suppression involving a former Arkansas federal prosecutor was made without his knowledge or endorsement, although he believes an inquiry would be appropriate.
"I don't know much about that, other than what I've read in the paper," Pryor, D-Ark., said in his weekly teleconference with news reporters.

"It's inconceivable to me that someone would deliberately try to prevent someone from voting," Pryor said Wednesday. "I think those allegations are serious enough that we should take a look at it."
Griffin has denied the allegations, both in public and in a conversation with Pryor, the senator said.
"I didn't cage votes, I didn't cage mail, I didn't cage animals. I'm not a zookeeper," Griffin said when asked about the allegation in an appearance last week at the Clinton School of Public Service. The former prosecutor vehemently denied the accusations, calling them "wrong and completely false."
