McNulty says he didn't seek to mislead U.S. Congress
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty said he never sought to mislead Congress about the firing of federal prosecutors but that his testimony earlier this year "was in some respects incomplete."

In a statement prepared for delivery on Thursday before a House of Representatives Judiciary subcommittee, McNulty, who recently announced plans to resign, did not identify any omissions.

But he said, "When I testified in February before the Senate Judiciary Committee, I testified truthfully, providing the committee with the facts as I knew them at that time."

~snip~

McNulty's scheduled appearance before the House panel comes a month after a former colleague, Monica Goodling, testified that McNulty was "not fully candid" in telling Congress about his knowledge of the White House's involvement in the dismissals.

McNulty did not mention Goodling in his prepared remarks.

1. I don't think an "ooops, my bad" works before the Sen. Judiciary Committee,
though I know that his follow up prevents a perjury charge, as is customarily granted, and helps complete the record. I think they will want to hear the "omissions" clearly, and in detail.

(aside) This may be an unintended benefit of the Libby grand jury perjury conviction.

If that's the case  all around.

3. This administration seems to lie a lot, doesn't it?
But it's always by accident, never by design. And for some odd reason, the lies they tell always seem to exonerate themselves. But it wasn't intentional. Yeah. Right. I believe that.

9. If his testimony is "incomplete", that means he didn't tell the whole truth.
That's perjury.
