Gonzales Tells Colleagues He'll Finish Term
Source: Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Embattled U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales told a gathering of his colleagues in Atlanta on Thursday that he would complete his term in office, using his final 18 months to fight online child predators and to push to make background checks on gun buyers more current.

The nation's top prosecutor, mired in a political crisis over the dismissal of federal prosecutors, got a round of chuckles from about 40 state attorneys general at a national convention in a Buckhead hotel when he said that it was "good to be outside of Washington, D.C."

He made no reference to the battle swirling over his job but said his "personal attention" would be devoted to four areas of law enforcement that also included fighting terror and public corruption.

. . .

Last week, the New York Times reported a Justice Department internal inquiry will determine whether Gonzales tried to influence a senior aide's testimony concerning the dismissal of federal prosecutors. This came after the Senate fell short of forcing a "no confidence" vote on Gonzales.

After the speech in Buckhead, he spoke for several minutes with David Nahmias, the U.S. attorney based in Atlanta, but he did not speak to the media.

17. OK. Then What ? Think About This,
.
So Gonzales has shrub's protection. Hurrah. Then shrub walks out the door for the last time and Gonzales will be on his own.

Like so many underlings, no one will be there to protect them anymore. Maybe this is the time to be trying to make deals with the legal system for protection in exchange for higher ups. (Maybe F Thompson can play a scene in 'Law And Order.')

The legal system will be coming for the lower order crooks. About the only way so many little fish n Washington can be protected to keep their mouths shut, is to cancel the November 2008 elections.

How about a betting pool on the date of announcement on the cancellation of the republican elections and the establishment of empire?

I am open for suggestions about how to bring all these criminals to justice. Whatever it is that's being tried isn't working AT ALL.

Just like leaving troops in Iraq, bringing that immigration bill back up again, and tying the estate tax cut to the minimum wage increase. The government really does not give a fuck anymore.

Even ignoring the prosecutor scandal (the evidence as to his and other administration political cronies culpability is indisputable), Alberto's involvement in illegal wiretapping and torture should get him dismissed. All of the scandals combined have to add up to an overwhelmingly negative opinion of this clown on the part of the public.

Fuck. I'd rather have John Asscrack again.
