Kerrey not hushing talk on possible Senate bid
BY ROBYNN TYSVER
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Bob Kerrey is once again playing the political flirt.

The former Nebraska governor and senator is showing just enough skin, and making all the right moves, to give supporters hope that he will return to the state and run for U.S. Senate.

He has paid for a survey to gauge support for a possible run. He is dropping in on old friends and supporters this weekend in Nebraska. And he recently jumped into the debate on the Iraq war with his public support for the U.S. mission there.

Kerrey seemed at ease Saturday night in front of the cameras, joking with reporters before speaking to about 500 Democrats at an Omaha fundraising dinner.

2. No. He would not. His phoniness and dishonesty would be just one more
shameful political sick joke in a state that's been used and abused by professional liars and supported by what apparently has been a state of professional idiots.

3. Nein. Nyet. No, no, no.
He would not. If Mike Fahey or some other worthy Dem is not going to run, and it's just Kerrey, I'm staying home. I won't vote for Lieberkerrey. I'd vote for Hagel over him.

4. Kerrey would be ten times better than Ben Nelson for sure!!
Kerrey became involved in convincing his friend and fellow Vietnam Vet, James Webb, to run for the US Senate. Webb entered the Virginia Democratic Primary, and Kerrey volunteered to serve as Webb's National Finance Chair.

Kerrey was a member of the "9/11 Commission"), where he accused Madeleine Albright, William Cohen, and Donald Rumsfeld of pursuing US interests with insufficient aggression.

Kerrey: No Apologies For Pro-War Stand

June 23, 2007 11:16 PM

Omaha, Ne.- Nebraska Democrats opposed to the war in Iraq are being asked to think again.

And it's one of the state's favorite Democrats doing the asking.

While former Senator Bob Kerrey continues to play wait and see regarding a possible run for the Senate next year, when it comes to the war Kerrey's mind is definitely made up. He's convinced the United States should be in Iraq, despite what many in his own party are saying.

Kerrey tells Action 3 News, "I don't want to get lost in the hell no we won't go, bring 'em all home rhetoric." Kerrey admits that some Democrats have wondered why he's backing President Bush, but Kerrey says, "I'm not siding with George Bush. We're so mad at the President for the language and the action and the incompetence that we get confused about what's going on in Iraq. It's liberals who are dying in Iraq. It's school teachers, and principals, and police officers and people who are joining the government, aid workers."

8. He is an example of the most frustrating kind of "liberal."
Machine gun liberals who tend to be more socially progressive on basic issues, but who have this fucked up sense of vision when it comes to the "american dream" and think we should spread our "ways" around the world, using force.

It's the whole "they'll thank us when we win" mentality.

OR, you have the new breed of democrats that truly are so ignorant about geo-politics that they actually buy into the mass hysteria that says if we don't take over the world the terrorist will get us.

Never mind the fact that it doesn't take a genius to see that our aggressive foreign policy is the thing making us most INSECURE and most vulnerable to violent reprisal.

10. gratuitous: No Apologies For Condemning Idiots
Give it up, Mr. Kerrey. No matter how many times you jam that fork into the electrical outlet, you will never poop out a pill that cures cancer. But your odds of doing that are slightly better than the United States achieving any sort of positive result from its little adventure in imperialism.

16. when Kerry was governor of NE
I used to sit and have beers with him occasionally when he'd show up downtown at the local pubs in Lincoln. I found him very down-to-earth, and gained great respect for him.

When he went to DC, I watched with horror as he became just another POS pol.

Looks like the transformation is now complete.

17. Get these goddamned blood-on-their-hands "Dems" the hell out of the party.
You side with the Cabal, you ARE the CABAL. Supporting a bloodbath is reprehensible; even more so when you consider that not ONE tenet of The Constitution is being preserved or solidified as a result of it's continuation. There is no mission, there is no end. Institute a gradual exit plan now before more soldiers are maimed and killed. Assholes.

21. Bob Kerrey has not apologized for the war crimes committed by his SEAL team under his command
I guess all that Vietnamese blood he spilled in that village did not satisfy his blood lust, so now he wants to fight his Vietnam demons by spilling Iraqi blood.

Send him back to New York!

23. Hey, Bob. Why not switch parties and run for CT Senator against Holy Joe!
That would give a Democrat the election, and fortify both of their sad, pathetic, withered souls.

I am astonished by the ignorance of fellow Nam vets who cannot grasp--after that indelible learning experience--that:
1) The ONLY way to WIN a guerrilla war is to win the "hearts and minds" of the people.
2) People hate occupiers, esp when they employ policies resulting in terrorizing the citizenry, destroying their infrastructure, and eviscerating their economy.

32. When the distrust and the hatred for this nation grows stronger everyday
because of this war,i do not see how anyone can justify our continued presence there. We could do a much better job of containing Iraq than occupying Iraq.
