It's not Super, but Dems pick Saturday

The presidential campaign showdown known as Super Duper Tuesday will go forward without Nebraska Democrats.

The party's central committee narrowly agreed Saturday to stick with its first-ever caucuses on Feb. 9 — four days after Super Duper Tuesday — despite concerns that the presidential nominating battle may be over by that time.

The 48-42 vote came after more than 30 minutes of spirited discussion about holding the caucuses Feb. 5, Super Duper Tuesday, or Feb. 9, the following Saturday.

Those who favored Feb. 9 said they need an entire day, rather than a workday evening, to pull off the party's first caucuses. They said a Saturday event would be easier for people to attend.

1. Knowing some orthodox and observant Jews, I wonder

how the party will accommodate those populations who can't do certain activities on the Sabbath? I know that Nebraska is hardly an epicenter of Jewish activity.
