Roadside bomb kills 4 Spanish UN troops in Lebanon
24 Jun 2007 16:50:49 GMT

KHIYAM, Lebanon, June 24 (Reuters) - Four Spanish United Nations
peacekeepers were killed and three wounded by a roadside bomb that
hit their patrol in south Lebanon on Sunday, security sources said.

Spain's defence ministry confirmed two soldiers had died and at
said least five had been wounded.

It was the first deadly attack on the U.N. peacekeeping force since
it was expanded after last year's war between Israel and Lebanese
Shi'ite Hezbollah guerrillas.

The security sources said two U.N. vehicles were badly damaged in
the explosion, near the southeastern town of Khiyam. They said a
roadside bomb had been detonated by remote control.

KHIYAM, Lebanon, June 24 (Reuters) - A car bomb, "most likely"
driven by a suicide bomber, killed five U.N. peacekeepers in south
Lebanon on Sunday, a police source said.

It was the first deadly attack on the 13,000-strong United Nations
force since last year's Israel-Hezbollah war and drew swift
condemnation from the United States, France and others.

The source said a mangled car was found at the scene with human
remains inside. Security sources had said earlier the blast was
caused by a roadside bomb detonated by remote control.

Spain's defence minister said two Spanish and three Colombian
peacekeepers, all serving in the Spanish army, had been killed in
the blast. Earlier Lebanese security sources had said five Spaniards
were killed.

2. Hmmm, at first they say ....
"a roadside bomb had been detonated by remote control." and only later it become a suicide bomber, with the vehicle and a body found at the scene.

I wonder which is the truth.

3. All lies
Neither account is true. Explanations of occurences in Lebanon are merely attempts to wrap around lies, deceptions, and misdirections. If you think you know why something happened, that just means you learned incorrectly.

4. I don't disagree with you at all, I use the same filter whenever
I read articles quoting "sources", "security sources" as the source of their information when it involves the Middle East.
