Milosevic elected to parliament in Serbian election
Former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic, on trial before the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague, was elected to the Serbian parliament on Sunday but will not sit in the assembly, officials said.

Milosevic's Socialist Party won 7.6 per cent of the vote, according to early indications, but the nationalist strongman who oversaw the bloody breakup of the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s would not be able to fill his seat as he is in UN custody near The Hague.

1. Kinda shocking
I guess the hatred over there is still going strong, if they think they still need Milosevic.

2. That's because those
jealous Generals maneuvered Clark out too soon...and put impotent Ralston in his place....since they didn't want to deal with it in the first place...they dropped it like a hot potato ASAP. Hence same problem occurred with Iraq...and why the Kurds were massacred....

It's all about the follow through....Only Clark would have found it important enough to do the job right!

Plus there is probably a whole lot of negative sentiments toward the US over there now....for sure....after Bush's inatentiveness for the last 3 years!

they have it comming.

That's what happens when one thinks on your terms.

Maybe it should be better for you to learn something of the story
of Yugoslavia in WWII and then you wouldn't be so quick to pass a
judgement on an entire people.

I don't confuse americans for neo-cons or israelis for likudniks.
That is why I don't call for the bombing of the US or Israel.

5. spare us
I know all about what happened in WWII, and I am the last one to defend american imperialism, but the serbs have murdered hundreds of thousands of bosnians and croats so spare us the righteos indignation(if I am interpreting your post correctly). There are still people in america and germany who deny the holocaust also. It also doesent mean I sympathize with the Israeli government if I acknowledge that particular atrocity.

6. Well so what about the ethnic cleasing of the Krajina
Edited on Mon Dec-29-03 06:56 AM by Capt_Nemo
and Eastern Slavonia by the Croats, That were voided of 700,000+ Serbs
in the period from 1995/97?

It's prety confortable seing the world in black and white and
conjuring up a scapegoat.

Fact of the matter is that there was a civil war that was instigated
from outside mainly by the Helmut Khol government and that
all sides were led by extreme nationalists. In fact the extremists
took power in Croatia BEFORE Milosevich took power in Serbia.

The West took sides simply beacause it wanted to get a military
presence in a zone of russian influence. It was Brzezinski's
great game, a kinder gentler PNAC. The western media obediently
took sides and reported only the atrocities by the supposed
"bad guys". It was the trial run for the PNAC wars.

I'm not realy surprised that most americans side with the neo-cons
since they also bought the official Balkan wars story hook, line
and sinker.

8. On the Kosovo conflict's coverage by western media
there is an informative book by Noam Chomsky

The New Military Humanism: Lessons from Kosovo

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1567511767/qid=1072716423/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-7787977-0440834?v=glance&s=books

On the issues about the Serb majority enclaves in Croatia
there is at least one by a group of portuguese journalists that
covered the conflicts in Bosnia and Croatia, but it is not translated
in english.

Anyway I followed these events back then listening to the World
Service of the BBC. You can search in the archives of several
media channels and you'll certainly find about this story.

One more thing, the party that was responsible for this massive ethnic
cleansing incident, the HDZ, was this year put back in power, defeating the left in elections, but I am yet to hear in the media
a similar outcry to the one caused by the results of elections in
Serbia...
