Source: Voice of Iraq

Baghdad, Jun 25, (VOI)- U.S. forces are still blocking all outlets to the Baghdad's Sunni neighborhood of Adhemiyah for the fifth day in a row, local residents said on Monday.

"The siege laid by the U.S. forces on Adhemiyah, from Thursday, is still in place after gunmen blew up a U.S. vehicle and attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint in Anter square last Wednesday," a local resident told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI) over the phone.

The source said "U.S. forces are intensively patrolling the streets of Adhemiyah calling, through loudspeakers, residents to hand over the gunmen in the area while local residents can only go in and out of the neighborhood on foot."

Another local resident told VOI by telephone "electricity has been off in the neighborhood since Wednesday, while areas of Raghiba Khaton, Sulaikh, Omar bin Abdul-Aziz street have been suffering from a severe shortage in water supply."
Local residents should reach as far as the neighborhood outlets on foot till they were allowed to take public buses, the second source said.
