Wrestler Benoit, Wife and Son Found Dead

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and son were found dead Monday and police said they were investigating the deaths as a homicide.

Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department said the three were found at their home about 2:30 p.m., but refused to release details.

Pope said results of autopsies on Benoit, his wife Nancy, and 7-year-old son Daniel were expected Tuesday.

Benoit, 40, was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career.

8. It's traditional in wrestling

In wrestling, it's traditional to disregard the person and just pay tribute to the performer and on that level, Benoit was one of teh very, very best. Jimmy Snuka got a tribute despite being involved in the very dodgy death of his girlfriend, Art Barr got one despite being a convicted sex offender (and that was only after he plea-bargained down from rape). If OJ had been a wrestler, he would still have got a tribute to him as a performer.

Apart from that, everyone liked Benoit. Almost no-one had a bad word to say about him. This (if it was murder-suicide, let's not second guess the results) came out of nowhere.

Phil Astin Said Last Week That He Prescribed Chris Benoit Testosterone

"The personal doctor of pro wrestler Chris Benoit surrendered to authorities Monday to face a federal charge in connection with a federal drug probe, the doctor's attorney said.

Attorney Manny Arora said Dr. Phil Astin will face a single charge involving improperly prescribing medication.
