Baghdad hotel blast investigated
Source: UPI

BAGHDAD, June 26 (UPI) -- No group claimed responsibility for an explosion at a prominent Baghdad hotel that killed several sheiks.

~snip~

The sheiks were part of a group that was cooperating with U.S. efforts to fight the al-Qaida terror network the Anbar Province.

One group leader was not quick to blame al-Qaida for the bombing.

"There are a lot of security measures around the hotel, checkpoints and security forces," Ali al-Hatim al-Suleiman told the Times. "How would they manage to go through all these measures? This is silly to suggest that al-Qaida did this. We can not blame al-Qaida for everything!"

2. Well, I Doubt Cheney Would Blow Up His Allies
Unless they were starting to rebel, or get cold feet.

7. They are his minions, not his allies.
And thus expendable when required. For example: to keep the instability on track so that there can be no excuse for removing our occupation forces from on top of the vast pool of cheap Iraqi oil as the other sources of cheap oil start to run out.

DUBAI, June 26 (Reuters) - An al Qaeda-led group said on
Tuesday it was behind a deadly suicide bombing at a Baghdad
hotel in which several tribal leaders were killed and said it was
in retaliation for the rape of a Sunni Muslim woman.

The self-styled Islamic State in Iraq said the attack targeted
the tribal leaders from the western province of Anbar where
the woman was allegedly raped by policemen.
