House Leaders Act To Reduce Iran's Gasoline Imports
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — Leaders of a bipartisan House panel, seeking economic pressure against Iran, acted Thursday to try to reduce Tehran's import of gasoline.

A bill introduced by Reps. Mark S. Kirk, R-Ill., and Robert E. Andrews, D-N.J., who set up a congressional group on Iran's nuclear programs two years ago, coincided with angry protests in Tehran against fuel rationing.

--
Under the proposed legislation, any company that provides Iran with gasoline or helps it import gasoline after the end of the year could lose its access to U.S. customers.

--
Most of Iran's gasoline imports come from Persian Gulf states and India, brokered by the Dutch trading house Vitol. Most of the gasoline tankers are insured by Lloyds of London.

1. This, as usual, is a mistake
Right now, the Iranian public is blaming their looney toons president for the gas shortage. Now, if we intervene, then it is Satan that is causing it and will rally the public behind him.

Stupid, as usual.

We should give them enough rope to hang themselves only, if anything.

2. Watch gasoline prices if Iran decides to pull 50% of its oil off the market.
Of course we will hear, but Iran needs the $$$.

Indeed, but if Iran withholds 50% of its oil and the oil traders run the price per barrel up to $100bbl, Iran gets to sells its remaining product at a nice premium.

Who's economy is more fragile? Iran or US...

3. Then we'll get to hear...
"but, but, but supply is down" from the oil companies as they gouge us harder and rake in record profits.

4. Tell me again (in the first place) why "we" want to hang Iranians?
Why the not sell them the gas they need, charge them for it, and make a reasonable profit?
