Starbucks Defends Itself at NYC Labor Relations Trial

NEW YORK (AP) -- Some Starbucks baristas in Manhattan are steaming -- but not over lattes and cappuccinos.

Starbucks Corporation is accused by the National Labor Relations Board trial of intimidating activists at four Manhattan locations.

An NLB trial looking into the matter began yesterday, with some of the peeved baristas showing up to express their anger about the Seattle-based company's labor practices.

The board says the company fired pro-union employees, banned workers from wearing union pins and gave unfair negative performance reviews.

1. Still my favorite union.
The Wobblies. I wish I could join, but they have rules about AFL-CIO officers not being eligible for membership.
I understand their reasoning, just wish I could join.
