Al Qaeda Cell in the U.S. Or On Its Way, According to New Intel
Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 08:30 PM by Newsjock
Source: ABC News

Senior U.S. intelligence officials tell ABC News new intelligence suggests a small al Qaeda cell is on its way to the United States, or may already be here.

The White House has convened an urgent multi-agency meeting for Thursday afternoon to deal with the new threat.

Top intelligence and law enforcement officials have been told to assemble in the Situation Room to report on:
--what steps can be taken to minimize or counter the threat,
--and what steps are being taken to harden security for government buildings and personnel.

"It suggests they have information that the cell or cells coming this direction want to attack a government facility," Brad Garrett, a former FBI agent and ABC News consultant, said.

23. Peoria is red, I'll guess.
The strike will be West. We know that because the President is strangely vacationing in the East. The only other certainty is that it will be in a blue state.

Blue and close to Texas=Arkansas.

Any other ideas?

Homeland Security chief’s 'gut feeling' is 'Increased risk’
Chertoff bases it on history and al-Qaeda statements
By E.A. Torriero
Tribune staff reporter

July 10, 2007, 2:36 PM EDT

In an unusually blunt and frank assessment of America's terror threat level, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said in Chicago this morning that his "gut feeling" is the nation faces a heightened chance of an attack this summer.

"I believe we are entering a period this summer of increased risk," Chertoff told the Chicago Tribune's editorial board.

Calling it "a gut feeling" based on past patterns of terrorists in Europe, recent al-Qaeda statements and intelligence he did not disclose, Chertoff said of terrorists: "Summertime seems to be appealing to them. ... We worry that they are rebuilding their activities."

A recent terror plot in London and Scotland has America's defense system on alert, Chertoff said. He urged Americans to be attentive if something appears suspicious. But he said there is an assessment "not of a specific threat, but of increased vulnerability."

27. Chertoff is about as qualified
to be America's Security Chief as Michael Brown was to head FEMA. He has a gut feeling huh? Summertime is appealing to them, huh? Very impressive Mike. If you assholes wouldn't have pissed off everyone in a position to give you actionable intelligence, we wouldn't have to rely on your fucking gut feelings. Losers, and the saddest part is we're stuck with the likes of you.

20. Be afraid - this is the set up for the terror attack
that will allow Bush to declare martial law and cancel the election.

And since Al Qaeda is run by his former business partner Osama bin Ladin and he is buddies with Bandar Bush, another Saud, I'm sure that he could get Al Qaeda folks to do their thing in the US.

40. Just a thought...
I think it's unreasonable to assume that Der PanzyFuhrer can actually pull this off. He is like a car with a dead engine, a slipping transmission, and the loudest horn in the known universe.

His power is evaporating like water on the sun.

Did you see Helen Thomas' face during Der PanzyFuhrer's speechifyin today?

I really don't think he will be allowed by his handlers to pull it off.

WASHINGTON - U.S. counterterror officials are warning of an increased risk of an attack this summer, given al-Qaida's apparent interest in summertime strikes and increased al-Qaida training in the Afghan-Pakistani border region.

On Tuesday, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told the editorial board of The Chicago Tribune that he had a "gut feeling" about a new period of increased risk.

He based his assessment on earlier patterns of terrorists in Europe and intelligence he would not disclose.

"Summertime seems to be appealing to them," Chertoff said in his discussion with the newspaper about terrorists. "We worry that they are rebuilding their activities."
