Bob Allen, a Republican, represents District 32 of the State House of Representatives. The district spans parts of Brevard and Orange counties. Allen was first elected to the office in 2000.
Titusville police say they have arrested Florida State Rep. Robert "Bob" Allen, of Merritt Island, on second degree misdemeanor charges for solicitation for prostitution.

Allen, 48, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at Veteran's Memorial Park on East Broad St. in Titutsville. The park was under surveillance by a detail of undercover police officers.

Officers say they noticed Allen acting suspicious as he went in and out of the men's restroom 3 times. Minutes later, he solicited an undercover male officer inside the restroom, offering to perform oral sex for $20. Officers realized he was a public figure after the arrest.

I went to college absolutely neutral about frats. I went to a bunch of freshman rush parties, got shitfaced, hung around with some of the guys had a good time, but in the end had the stereotypical "why should I have to humiliate myself for them to be my friend" reaction. This was at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, so the guys weren't slouches in the brain department. But the moment the temperature hit maybe 70 degrees -- everybody's shirtless and playing touch football and "goofing around". Later, I transferred to tiny Lebanon Valley College. It's a church-affilliated school in the middle of farm country, fairy conservative. I worked in the college library and when things got dead I'd flip through old yearbooks, and like I said, the frat sections of the books were sometimes one picture after another of guys wearing nothing but jockey shorts and holding whiskey bottles and hanging all over each other. And then there are all the hazing games and pranks one hears about that all seem to involve the homoerotic humilation of other guys -- "Ookie Cookie," "Baby Elephant Walk," whatever you call it when you have to pick up a grape from a block of ice with your ass cheeks. If even a tenth of what you read about is real it's still a really weird scene, especially when you consider that these are often the guys harrassing effeminate classmates on the streets.

State Rep. Bob Allen to make 5pm press conference appearance and the police officer statement said this --

"I realized that there were no paper towels to dry my hands so I walked in to the handicap stall to dry my hands," the officer's report states. "As I stood in the stall drying my hands I observed Allen look over the door of my stall and make eye contact with me."

The officer's report states that Allen then walked into the stall, and during a conversation "it was agreed that he would pay me $20" to perform oral sex.

"Allen stated that he wanted me to ride with him across the river before he performed the act and gave me the money," the report states. "Before entering Allen's vehicle I identified myself as a police officer and detained him."

State Senator Bob Allen just got done speaking.

Said that the charges are "unaccurate" (lol), and that he's "fighting a not guilty" plea. Talk about screwing up your words.

Again, the news, Channel 6, did not say that it was a male officer, I'm not sure if that's wrong of them or not. Politically speaking it's wrong. Morally speaking, it shouldn't matter, but I'm going with the side that they should have said it after he spoke, what he was being charged with. They only said, "accused of paying for the OPPORTUNITY to perform oral sex on the officer".

He totally refuted the charges and said the ability of the cops to prove what he was doing will be shown to be false.

Police revealed new details about Allen's arrest on Thursday. His arrest affidavit says Allen followed the male undercover officer into the men's restroom and then, after talking to him from over the stall door, Allen stepped into the officers stall with him and stood against the door.

According to the report, Allen asked the officer, "This is kind of a public place isn't it?" The officer replied, "Do you have somewhere else we can go?" Allen then responded, "How about across the bridge? It's quiet over there."

The conversation continued and, police said, Allen told the officer he wanted the undercover officer to ride with him to the wildlife refuge and Allen would give him the $20 and perform the sexual act on the officer there.

The money was never exchanged because, as soon as they left the bathroom, the lawmaker was arrested.

Allen, who sponsored a failed bill that would have tightened the state's prohibition on public sex, scheduled a news conference at his lawyer's office to discuss Wednesday's arrest. A spokeswoman for Allen declined further comment.

"It just seems sad and tragic," Gov. Charlie Crist said Thursday when asked in Miami about Allen's arrest.

Allen was named in March as one of six co-chairs for McCain's Florida campaign. Campaign spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan did not return a telephone request for comment.
