Venezuela May Shoot Down Unidentified Aircraft, Universal Says

By Theresa Bradley

July 12 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuelan lawmakers drafted a decree that would allow the country's armed forces to shoot down any unidentified airplanes entering the nation's airspace, El Universal reported, citing congressman Juan Mendoza, vice- president of a Ministry of Defense legislative committee Ministry of Defense.

The Airspace Control Law, part of a package of laws President Hugo Chavez may decree in the next 12 months, would also provide $220 million for 13 Italian- and Chinese-made radar systems to intercept unidentified planes, including those carrying illegal drugs through Venezuela, the newspaper said.

Five of the radar systems have already been installed and will form part of a single network to monitor Venezuelan air and sea territory as early as next year, the newspaper said.

The U.S., Colombia, Peru, and European Union already have laws that allow them to intercept unidentified planes, Mendoza said, according to El Universal.

2. Hm-m, I wonder what this is about? US/Colombia illegal spraying of toxic
pesticides across the border into Venezuela, to create "incidents"? US/Colombia illegal SPYING over Venezuelan territory? US/Colombia rightwing paramilitary "rogue" operations (drug trafficking, murder)?

With the Bush Junta and John "death squad" Negroponte in charge of US foreign policy and black ops, any of these things, and even worse, are more than possible. We know that the rightwing paramilitaries that have been closely tied to the Colombian government were actively plotting to assassinate Chavez and other Andes region leftist leaders, and to try to destabilize and topple the Andes democracies. They have also been torturing and killing thousands of union organizers, peasant farmers and leftists, and throwing their remains into mass graves. So they are capable of anything, and with billions of dollars from US taxpayers pouring through Bush's fingers into Colombia, they have the guns, bullets, helicopters, planes and other armaments and heavy equipment to cause a lot of trouble. Venezuela is smart to be prepared, because the Bushites very clearly do not have peaceful intentions, although I think a number of these plots have been headed off and there is no support for this kind of fascist violence in most of South America--the dinosaur, Colombia, being the exception. In fact, there seems to be considerable Latin unity on the matter of US interference, and considerable protectiveness and friendship toward Venezuela.

I was reading an interview of Chavez in which he says he doesn't have a private life any more--the price of the stringent security measures needed to protect him. That's what Bushites do. They force everyone to live in fear.

3. Venezuela asked Bush's DEA people to leave, and this was followed up by Bush's
administration with a series or short articles claiming Venezuela is really involved in drug smuggling, that smugglers have all started going through Venezuela, knowing they won't be hassled, etc.!

Pure crap, obviously.

Venezuela has consistantly been catching big cocaine traffickers all along, with a "ginormous" one in the last week. The "weak on drug crime" charge was contrived as a new angle to harrass them, once they started resisting the Bush D.E.A..

Looks as if they are inviting Bush's people to stay outta the way, stop trying to tell them their business, and they mean to back it up, while continuing to oversee their own drug trafficking policing. This measure appears to be a warning to drug traffickers to stay away from the country, and forget about flying in and using remote Venezuelan locations for any reason.

The headline's a real piece of work, isn't it? By adopting this position concerning their own air space, Venezuela assumes the power over its OWN AIR SPACE which the U.S., the E.U., Colombia and Peru have been commanding over their own countries, WITHOUT screaming headlines, of course.

The sun never sets in the State Department propaganda offices!

4. Nice translation, thanks
One should also note that cloak of boogie man is also rarely removed by the public. The need of fear based sophistic wars to facilitate and promote by the establishment is endless
