Prosecution rests in Padilla terrorism support case

Published: July 13, 2007

MIAMI: U.S. prosecutors rested their case Friday against Jose Padilla
and two co-defendants charged with participating in a North American
support cell for al-Qaida and other Islamic extremist groups.

Prosecutors presented nearly nine weeks of testimony from 22 witnesses
and played dozens of FBI wiretap intercepts collected during an
investigation that lasted nearly a decade.

Defense lawyers for Padilla, Adham Amin Hassoun and Kifah Wael Jayyousi
will begin putting on their case next week, with the trial likely to continue
into August.

1. "an investigation that lasted nearly a decade"
yeah right. So why was he in prison five years without being charged for a crime. I'm guessing Padilla had the dope on some GOP bastard and this was to shut him up. Can't think of any other rational reason they'd make all those hysterical claims about him though I can think of a few irrational ones.
