McCain Press Staff Quits
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 09:12 AM by sabra
Source: MSNBC

As was expected after the McCain campaign’s shakeup last week, McCain’s three top press aides have all resigned. Per the Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder, “The departure of Brian Jones, the communications director, Danny Diaz, his deputy, and Matt David, a spokesman, had been widely anticipated since last week's resignation of campaign manager Terry Nelson. All three were Nelson's protégés and worked closely with departed strategist John Weaver.”

"This is not an acrimonious departure. We're doing everything we can to keep the transition smooth,” Jones told Ambinder, who writes the three “did, in fact, share a farewell drink with the senator.”

1. Now the big question is whether or not McCain is just too damn
stupid to understand that his goose is cooked and he just best quit making a fool of himself right now. I also wonder if he understands he can thank his buddy in this White House for destroying his life-long ambition?

20. Long sound-bite from McCain on NPR this morning, furiously distancing himself from commitment to *
and *'s war -- but the visual on my mental screen all the while his voice rambled on was * waving to the audience with McCain hugging *'s midriff like some little trophy wife. yuck.

3. At this point the McCain for President campaign consists of John McCain
sitting at a barren desk in his headquarters, alone, playing Solitaire.

I'm not sure you go from where McCain is right now to a resounding victory in the Iowa caucus or the New Hampshire primary inside 6 months.

no one on the McCain campaign staff with the sense to stir it into water with a spoon.

23. Who was that crazy chick from florida that this happened to last time
hmmm forgot her name. The reason they fled from her was she was CRAZY, not simply going to lose.

I suspect there is more to McCain that is a problem also. A good team would have tried to turn his campaign around. These guys can't deal with him.

27. More Staff Depart From McCain Campaign
Source: Associated Press

By LIZ SIDOTI

WASHINGTON (AP) - John McCain's top communications aides and several staffers in Iowa and South Carolina quit on Monday, the latest departures to hit the Republican as he struggles to rebound from financial and political woes.

Brian Jones, McCain's communications director, and his two deputies, Matt David and Danny Diaz, stepped down but plan to stay on through the week. Two others in the communications shop at the campaign headquarters also are leaving, as are two staffers apiece in Iowa and South Carolina.

Jill Hazelbaker, McCain's current New Hampshire communications director, is expected to take over for Jones and head up a slimmed-down media operation.

The press office moves were all but certain following the departures last week of campaign manager Terry Nelson and chief strategist John Weaver; several of those in the communications office, including Jones, had ties to Nelson.

It's sad that he has to call it quits so early.

It would have been nice to have his rotting carcass stinking up the Republican line up for just a little longer...

Oh well,...

They truly seem to hate every one of their candidates this time, and most of them can't even muster up a pathetic defense of their own president anymore. There's no way we're losing in 2008 unless it's stolen from us.
