GOP senator (Voinovich) to Rove: Bush legacy on the line in Iraq
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) — A Republican senator says he warned top White House aide Karl Rove that President Bush quickly needs to craft a workable plan to withdraw U.S. troops fom Iraq in order to salvage his legacy.

...

He should know history will not be kind unless he can come up with a plan that protects the troops and stabilizes the region,” Voinovich said he told Karl Rove, whom Bush dubbed “the architect” of his 2004 re-election.

Voinovich added that other Republicans are close to speaking out against the President’s current strategy.

“I won’t mention anyone’s name. But I have every reason to believe that the fur is going to start to fly, perhaps sooner than what they may have wanted.”

In private, Voinovich is more blunt, using a profanity to describe the White House’s handling of Iraq by charging the administration “f—ed up” the war.

2. The only good thing about George V being in the Senate....
is that he's farther away from Ohio now.

3. Because that's what matters, after all
The thousands of US soldiers, hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis, and four million refugees...all that means less than salvaging Bush's legacy.

8. Gets his orders directly from god......
and all that. :eyes: That that statement alone isn't enough to make the average American question Bush's sanity speaks volumes about how gullible and superstitious Americans are. Substitute any other word for "god" in that sentence and they'd have Bush locked up in a rubber room within a day.

Bush's legacy. That's what this entire thing is about. That's why thousands of lives must be sacrificed at the altar of Bush's legacy.

The spoiled, petulant, lazy, delusional frat boy had a zero chance for a decent legacy to begin with, WITHOUT his stupefying, idiotic rush to war with Iraq. He was always destined for the dustbin of history but now his actions have assured him of holding the dubious title of "WORST PRESIDENT, EVER' in perpetuity!

9. As I have been saying for years-Time and Pressure Time and Pressure
Within oh let's say 5 years the public is going to finally ask -- What was it that happened that summer BEFORE 9/11???? and why are you taking CREDIT for that day???

Trust me it is coming and it is not going to be pretty. Yes Clinton will be dragged in my the corporate media but Bush will take the fall in the end "oh his watch" is a phrase they are going to be real sorry they ever brought up.

11. He is still running the show and is screwing it up as usual. The "surge" and its PR
is typical of Rove's methods.

12. That would be about right.
No wait, our failed attempt to break the fillibuster will terrify the cabal and they will end the war rather than face certain, uh, um, certain, uh, ah yes, certain concern from Congress.
