Former Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) paid nearly $300,000 in legal fees in the second quarter of 2007, according to the most recent Federal Election Commission filings.

The fees were incurred in the first three months of 2007 and were paid to the Florida-based law firm Zuckerman Spaeder.

Despite the legal fees, Foley’s campaign committee has maintained a healthy war chest of $1,458,275 cash on hand.

2. Legal fees
for what?

Being gay isn't illegal, neither is hiding it. And although being a hypocrite about it is disturbing, I don't think that's illegal either.

and abused his position.I don't see what being gay has to do with it. So what if he is. he still went after pages. Straight or gay, congressmen who pray on young pages are sick.

5. Legal fees?
He was never accused, indicted nor arrested. Unless he claimed legal fees to pay for that expensive rehab he was hiding out in.

6. He's buying the most important kind of "justice"
"Although Foley has not been charged, he has been under investigation by federal and state officials to determine whether he violated any laws in his dealings with former House pages, including sending them sexually explicit e-mails and instant messages."

In this country, if you've got money, you can buy your way out of things before you're charged.

If he can get off for less than $500,000, he'll be doing pretty good. You can beat damn near any charge in this country if you've got a half million to spend...

The Criminal-Injustice system is ALL about who can buy the most lawyers. The state usually wins that battle unless the accused/defendant is very rich...
