Vitter to make statement today
Source: NOLA

After remaining in seclusion since his telephone number turned up last week in the records of an escort service in Washington, D.C., Senator David Vitter will make a public statement this afternoon at the Sheraton Galleria in Metairie.

Thus far, Vitter has only apologized for committing "a serious sin," a regret he reiterated in an email to supporters.

His office announced today that Vitter would appear at 5:05 p.m. before heading back to Washington. His staff did not indicate what the senator might say.

Vitter has not responded to allegations which resurfaced last week that he was a regular customer of a prostitute who went by the name of Wendy Cortez when he was a state representative in the late 1990s. He has previously denied that allegation.

16. no.
first, to his kids, then the little lady, then his voters, church groups, and supporters, then hillary and Bill. Except for the last two folks, all of those should be in private. His apology to Bill and Hill should be aired on CNN, Faux & MSGOP.

still, in his shoes, I would be looking online for a locking, stainless steel jockstrap.

21. "Senator, how do we know you're not wearing a diaper right now"? James Carville
might ask that question. But I suspect neither he nor anyone like him will be there, and Vitter's PR flacks will have insisted on all reporters' acquiescence to strict groundrules.

25. He seems too gutless to face his constituents: he canceled his "town meeting" today
so whatever "statement" he "issues" at 5 in Metairie, I bet he won't take many questions

Senator David Vitter Cancels Louisiana Appearance
U.S. Sen. David Vitter has cancelled the “town hall” meeting he had earlier scheduled for Monday in Greensburg, his office announced today” and that Vitter “is returning to Washington, D.C., for votes in the U.S. Senate.” ~snip~ http://www.bayoubuzz.com/News/Louisiana/Politics/Senator_David_Vitter_Cancels_Louisiana_Appearance__4249.asp

If you don't wanna do the time, vitter, then don't do the crime. Or at least use a public phone booth...

:nopity:

Hey, he made his bed. So to speak. It'll be there with the covers turned down in the back of everyone's mind for years. Come to think of it, even if he hangs on, and "survives" this, perhaps that's the sweetest revenge of all! I mean, can you even think about him without getting A) grossed out or B) hysterical with laughter? You wouldn't be alone in that, either. Way to go, vitter! Thanks oodles!

on edit - Hey! Look at those little smilies! A "'nopity' 'party'"!

It would nice to see our local paper actually report on this, and not just do stenography, repeating what Vitter or his camp has announced.

For example: how many times and in what contexts was Vitter asked about the rumors of his seeing prosititutes in the past? When and to whom has he lied to about this, in public venues or meeting with private supporters?

And how did he pay for these visits? They began about the time he and his wife started having kids. They also purchased a very nice home in the NOLA area. I'd like to know how, with the expenses of kids and a new home, and campaigning costs, he was able to drop thousands of dollars on expensive call girls here and in DC, without his wife noticing. Were lobbyists paying for some of these visits?

These are all appropriate questions for our paper of record to take on. Why aren't we seeing some actual journalism happening here?

DEPENDS!

The only statement this ass clown needs to make is that he is resigning immediately. Anything else, and he is fair game for any and all. Larry Flynt already has this guy in his sights no matter what statement he makes, and Flynt is just wealthy enough to put up a few billboards or maybe even score some national airtime.

US Senate Computer Used For Louisiana David Vitter Talking Points

The documentation of the talking points is the metatag which is coded in Microsoft Word software.
Because of the metatags, these talking points came directly from the US Senate but it is uncertain who
drafted or copied the content. Nonetheless, they were likely written or copied and dissiminated by an
individual with access to Microsoft Word from a Senate computer.

The content of the talking points are evidence of an orchestrated device to create support for Senator
Vitter at a time when he has not made any public appearances since the breaking of the D.C. Madam
story.

The document is further evidence that a US government institution is being used for political purposes
instead of governmental purposes.

The word document did not have the name of the author, nor did it have the identity of the organization
such as the “U.S. Office of David Vitter” which would indicate that it was an official document or
press release from that office. Also, it did not have a heading or symbol that it was from any
political organization such as the “Friends of David Vitter” or the “National Republican Party”
which would be a political document.

in these states by soliciting women with money for sex. So he can say all he wants about this being a personal matter between him and his family, he should not be left off the hook for this. If course, he could use his time to ask Congress to enact laws to legalize prostitution, a victim-less crime.
