Dow Jones firings predicted under Murdoch

CHICAGO, July 17 (UPI) -- News Corp. would likely cut jobs if it buys Dow Jones & Co., intensifying a culture clash between the two media companies, a U.S. consulting firm said Tuesday.

"Culture clashes can be exacerbated by the actions of the acquiring company, particularly when those actions include job cuts," Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc. said.

The Chicago outplacement consulting firm observed that culture clashes were widespread in the 2001 AOL-Time Warner merger and the 2002 Compaq-Hewlett Packard merger.

Neither of the mergers "lived up to expectations," Challenger said.

2. Well I'm sure whoever gets let go ...
it won't be because of their political leanings. He'd never let anything as shallow as that be a precursor for termination.

6. I'M BOYCOTTING EVERYTHING DOW JONES if that sob
gets it, yet one more forum for his most conswervative agenda.

This is the prick that marched US and GB into Iraq like Hearst marched us into the Spanish-American war, IMHO.

Bloomberg's is a great financial news service, as is Reuters, and the NYTimes is in a position to catch those of us customers fleeing to deflate this megalopolist. Maybe even WAPO could add some financial coverage. Not to mention Yahoo with some of the most detailed financial coverage I've seen.
