Ex-PM (Blair) spoke to (Rupert) Murdoch before war
Source: Guardian Unlimited

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair spoke to media mogul Rupert Murdoch three times in the 10 days before the outbreak of the Iraq war - once on the eve of the US-led invasion - it has been disclosed.

The telephone conversations were among six calls between the two men detailed by the Cabinet Office in response to a Freedom of Information request from Liberal Democrat peer Lord Avebury.

The information was released on the day after Mr Blair handed over power to Gordon Brown last month, after a three-and-a-half year battle by the Lib Dem peer. Lord Avebury waited until now to publicise the release.

No details were released of what subjects Mr Blair and the News Corporation chairman discussed in the calls on March 11, 13 and 19 2003, ahead of the launch of US-led military action in Iraq on March 20. Further conversations took place on January 29, April 25 and October 3 2004.

1. In some ways I find Blair even more odious than "shrub." He's just such an
obvious suck up and manipulator.

4. Blair was always there to make the transition to fascism more palatable to those
paying casual attention.

Just like some of our more famous Dem leaders of recent years.

3. Now...can we discuss the huge sums of money
that the H. Clinton campaign gleaned from Mr. Murdoch?

5. All 'coincidence' I am sure that Blair, Clintons, and Bushes are all so close
with each other AND with Murdoch.

Yep. Just another 'coincidence' for the coincidence theorists.

7. I ask the question,
how do Clinton supporters ignore all of this? When the media picks her as our candidate we will see the futility of the situation. Peace, Kim

9. David Sirota described
in the NYTimes when first reported of her acceptance of R. Murdoch's assist for her campaign as "stomach turning." Recently Hillary, when asked about her Murdoch money connection, she answered even more stomach turningly, (paraphrased) " He is one of my constituents and I am obligated to all my constituents." Then she proceeded to pass a bill in the Senate to favor Faux News' Nielson rating. I think it's not just the fundraising events for Bill and Hillary, but the Murdoch's powerful news outlet support. Hillary has also accepted money from big health Corporations and the only top Democratic candidates who does not have a health plan. She has shown that she not only accepts their money but willing to do their bidding as well. Murdoch is a powerful king maker as shown by Blair and Bush. If she wins the presidency, it looks like she will be Bush Lite. Pray that Gore will run. That is our only hope.
