Cheney steps in to push nuclear deal (India)
Source: Times of India

19 Jul 2007
WASHINGTON: An agreement on implementing the long-drawn, much-discussed US-India nuclear deal is close at hand following a referral of the matter to US vice-president Dick Cheney.

Cheney's office scheduled a 2 p.m. EST (11.30 p.m IST) call on him by India's National Security Advisor M.K.Narayanan, who will be accompanied by Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon and India's ambassador to the US Ronen Sen.

The high-level intervention followed sustained and exhaustive negotiations between official and technical delegations of the two countries that spilled into a third day on Thursday.

Whether the Cheney meeting is part of a larger strategic pow-wow or a celebratory toast to clinching the deal or a high political intervention aimed at breaking a gridlock isn't clear because negotiators are still hard at work on the fine print.

1. Oh my god, Dick Cheney has been in India, first to get his $6.8 million AT&T phone bill
...reversed and second to give the Indian government $2.5 billion in nuclear weapons and missiles to fight Pakistan. This is whirlwind diplomacy Dick Cheney style, while Condi Rice gave another piano recital in New Deli, not the Indian Capital, but the Jewish delicatessen on 48th St and Madison Ave NYC New York.

3. The only problem is this is close to be being true along with
...the consequences of allowing that treasonous bastard Dick Cheney to do basically what Ethel and Julius Rosenberg went to the electric chair for in 1951. :wtf:

4. Damn, that's the second one I've missed!
I totally spaced out the day that Condi played the CurryInAHurry (over on Lexington) and missed it entirely. :silly:
